Photo Shoot: Graffiti Wall

In downtown Saint Louis, MO along the bank of the Mississippi River is a Mile long stretch of Flood wall known as the Graffiti Wall.

This is an area where local Graffiti Artist show off the many talents.  Once a year, the entire surface is painted over and the artists gather to creative new exciting works.  This year before everything disappeared, I wanted to capture the graffiti in Infrared.  I called upon one of my favorite models, Alyiah to help me give an infrared fashion shoot look to this series.

I had Alyiah wear a solid color black dress as I knew I could change the color tones as I wanted.  My goal was to create a series where the background and subject held equal attention.

For the shoot I used an enhanced color converted Canon 50D, and the images were shot in RAW.   The white balance was set by photographing a solid white painted area of the Graffiti Wall.  A second white balance using Digital Photo Professional was done, this time different areas of the background were used to get different effects.

The images were processed using PS CS5, NIK HDR Efex Pro2, Color Efex Pro4, DFine2, and Filter Forge 4 with Lomo.



In several images the color channels were swapped using Flaming Pear.  The color tones were adjusted in PhotoShop CS5 using Hue and Saturation.

For the image where the model is wearing sunglasses, I did have to darken the lens to complete the look.
