Effortless contact, packing instructions and submit for repair. The repair, from start to finish, was about 10 days. Checked repair with scope and shot about 50 images and found no problems. This will save me a lot of post processing time because I won’t have to “heal” the long scratch in the upper center of my images. I am more than satisfied and would use and recommend LifePixel again! Thanks!
Dan’s video tutorial is well worth the time and money if you are serious about infrared photography. He is super knowledgable, enthusiastic, patient and is generous in adding value to your session. With his help I feel I have the starting tools to master infrared. Would highly recommend Dan’s training session as a hidden gem to get you started correctly.
I shopped a lot before deciding to go with Life Pixel for an infrared conversion. Guided by information at this site, I bought a new Panasonic Lumix GF-6 for conversion. I opted for the Deep BW IR (equivalent to 830nm Filter) which fit the work I wanted to do with fine art black and whites. I found this website a trove of information, and dealing with LifePixel was the best possible buying experience as they shipped the camera to my daughter’s house in time for me to take it hiking in the Sonoran desert in Arizona. That was two years ago. I use the camera every week and have not tired of it at all. I have recommended Life Pixel to two friends and they are very pleased with their conversions.
I converted my Nikon D7100 to super color IR (590nm) and choose Universal Focus because the live view does a great job. Try it before the conversion and you will know for sure.
Lifepixel is the best and I know many others that will say it happily. I added a Hoodman Loupe and the “crane” Attachment so the loupe can be attached easily and stays on quite well and come off easy when you have to pack up. Most all my lenses work as expected and auto focus deadly sharp. I use back button focus and highly suggest anyone should if you can.
My Sigma 8-16mm is a bit of a chore and I’ve not figured that one out quite yet. My SIgma 18-35mm is easy. I have about 10 lenses and none have hot spots. All my Lensbaby optics also work well too! Universal Focus just means you can use so many lenses! I have found I often need to add a stop of compensation. You can also manually focus if you want to in live view quite well too. I have a manaul Macro and my Lensbabys I do that with and have for a long time.
It does take a bit of getting used to with the channel swap and white balance. You sort of learn how to process pictures all over. All the tutorials here are MUST SEE! If you are a Nikon Shooter then Nikonians.Org has an IR forum with great photographers that will share everything.
I had gotten a recommendation for Life Pixel from a commercial photographer that had used them herself. I sent an email with a lot of questions, received an email back from Daniel M. and he asked if we could discuss over the phone instead. We connected and he spent A LOT of time helping me with all my questions, plus some! I would highly recommend Life Pixel!! They have top notch customer service!! VERY HELPFUL!!
i had my camera converted to 720 black and white. customer service was great and very patient with all my questions. order was completed in a timely fashion. highly recommended.
Had a scratch in the sensor glass of my Nikon D800 that was driving me crazy. Replacement by Nikon would have cost too much. I tried the scratched sensor glass replacement service from LifePixel and I am very happy with the results. The service was quick and the replacement glass is perfect. The cost is a mere fraction compared to replacement by Nikon. Thank you, LifePixel.
I sent my Panasonic Lumix G1 over to Life Pixels to be converted into Infrared, and chose the super blue filter. Since it has been returned to me, I have been out and around several of the large parks in my area in full sunlight, and I am absolutely delighted with the results that I am getting. I just love the Infrared camera.
The people at LifePixel are just SUPERB. It was a great experience from start–contacting them before sending out my camera and lens–to finish–getting back my gear in pristine condition. My life with infrared has only just begun and what a wonderful entry!! Thank you, LifePixel.
Just to let you know how much I am enjoying my recent Super Color IR converted Olympus camera. Works so well that I am contemplating having another camera converted to the Full Spectrum spec. Working in the IR spectrum can be a bit challenging on occasion, but when the end result delivers that amazing “wow” factor, it totally justifies the extra effort. Well Done Lifepixel!
