This is the follow up to my initial review of the new Canon RF24-240 Super Zoom Lens. If you haven’t read the first part, you may want to click here first.
After completing a few shoots with the new Canon RF 24-240, my opinion did not change about this lens. It is a solid, well-built lens that is a great addition to the RF line of Canon lenses. I could even see it as an inexpensive choice over the RF 24-105, or the steeper priced RF 24-70L.
For landscapes, 24mm on a full-frame sensor is great.
At 240mm it will work in a pinch for close up shots that can be cropped to look like macros.
I’ve also tried this lens on my natural color EOS-R and it performs flawlessly.
So, should you get this lens?
That depends on your personal situation. If you intend to have a RF 24-70L or RF 24-105L, and RF 70-200L then you probably won’t need this lens. However, I could see quite a few photographers heading out the door with just this one lens.
If Canon does like most retailers, keep an eye out for Sale before the Christmas season starts.

Thank you so much for the information on the RF 24-240 Dan. I have been hesitant to buy an R series for conversion because of what I have heard about the RF lenses being horrible with hot spots. I was wondering if you know how it works with the more “restrictive” IR conversions – such as 720nm? Do you know of any hot spots with that, since that is my favorite conversion. Thank you

I tested it on 590nm only.
