Matthew Garin is a creative professional with many years of experience as an in-house
multimedia designer based in metro Detroit, MI. Having earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts and
Master of Arts degrees in graphic design from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, his emphasis
revolves around various disciplines in design – print, web, interactive, photography, motion
graphics, and technical illustration – although rapidly changing technology has made this
subject to change and allowed him to expand his skillset and explore different areas. Living in
the metro Detroit area has presented him with a unique setting as the rapidly evolving
metropolis is rich with beautiful architecture and amazing people.

Matthew became fascinated by photography and its enhancement of his pre-existing graphic
design framework. The new challenges and creative direction this contemporary medium
promotes, allows him to be both conceptually surprised and mystified. The results are often
unpredictable and revealing, expanding the imagination in productive directions. Motivated by
the unexpected results of digital infrared photography, Matthew continues to explore the limits
of image rendering technology, marrying his love of digital imagery and two-dimensional
creative rendering.

Matthew occupies most of his free time exploring creative endeavors – photographing,
painting, and graphic design. The fundamental importance of his progression and practice lies
modestly in the activity of exploring, research, experimentation, and most important of all,
creating. The act of creation sustains his imagination, which influences and motivates him as a
