According to news and rumor on the internet, Thursday, 06/29 Canon will announce two new cameras; the long awaited 6D Mark II and the SL2.
All the information we have so far is coming from rumor sites like Canon Rumors, PetaPixel and Nokishita Camera which is a Japanese site.
Here’s what we know so far:
The 6D MarkII
The 6D has been Canons entry level full frame camera, and as I can say from experience produces quality full frame images, especially when converted to Infrared. The 6D MarkII is rumored to have a new 26.2MP sensor, Dual pixel CMOS AF, a maximum ISO of 40000 (expandable to 102400), Full HD video recording with image stabilization, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity, GPS and Burst rate of 6.5 fps. The current 6D has a rather slow burst rate of 3-4 fps, so this feature alone will be an improvement.
The other thing interesting to note is the 6DMarkII is reported to have an articulated 3 inch screen; something we haven’t seen as of yet in a Canon full frame DSLR.
The SL2 (2000D)
If you are wondering what an SL2 is, don’t worry most people paid little attention the SL1. Those who did were surprised by what they found. The SL1 is/was the worlds smallest DSLR. I have one and I use it as a training camera. It is tiny, compact and takes some decent images. It makes a great take-anywhere-camera. If you’d like to see what images from it look like, you can find that here. The only issue I had with the SL1 was the same as the 6D, the slow burst rate, It seems Canon is fixing that in the SL2.
Here’s what we may know about the SL2 : It will come in 3 colors; White, Black and Silver. The sensor is C-crop: 24.2 million pixels, and it will have a touch screen display, just like the SL1. This is great part, a burst rate of 5fps, the SL1 was about 3fps.
If this information is accurate, look for the official announcement on 06/29/17, and if it is true, we can look forward to 2 new, improved camera bodies.

David Watts says
The SL1 has made for a great little camera. I bought one as a refurb and had it IR converted by LifePixel. Paired with a 24mm pancake lens, it is almost always with me in when an IR scene begs me to capture it. The SL2 will be even better.
