Last week, the interwebs lost its mind. Why? No, Kylie didn’t get a new tattoo, this was even more serious!
Adobe was raising their pricing for Photoshop CC!!!!
Adobe Photoshop CC has been $9.99 a month for ……umm, …… a really long time.
Who do they think they are?
A company that has the right like everyone else to raise their prices?!? This clearly is the end of days. Next, it will start raining locust, and someone will put the Gong Show back on TV.
Like most people, I read all the stories about how the price was doubling and how terrible it was. There were stories about how Adobe was going to start gouging use poor photographers and digital artists. One person suggested calling Adobe and trying to pre-pay for 3 years of CC at the current $9.99 price.
I thought at the time that might be a good idea . . . . but didn’t do it. (I got busy and forgot)
Now,
Before I proceed, I want to give you my honest take on this, my opinion. I think Photoshop is a great piece of software. I don’t use Lightroom, have no use for it, but that’s a story for another day. I use Photoshop every day . . . Every day. And while I am happy paying my $9.99 a month (actually I’m lazy and pay by the year) the honest fact is if Adobe did double the price . . .
. . . I’d pay it! It’s worth it.
Now if any of the gods of Adobe are reading this, . . . . please don’t raise my rates.
I don’t care how much all these other softwares jump up and down, screaming “Look at Me, Look at me!” Nothing comes close to Photoshop.
So, with that said, let’s move on.
Yesterday, I get an email from Adobe, it’s time to renew my subscription. Part of me was like “oh crap” and the other part was like “Oh Well”
So, I get this from Adobe.
So, …. yeah, my subscription will renew on Blah, Blah, Blah,
I can log into my account, Blah, Blah, manage my plans, Blah, Blah .. customer service,
then…………….. wait, what?!?
My renewal price is $119.88, but that can’t be right! That’s the same price as last year, and the years before.
Then it hit me, …… and I smirked. Oh yeah, I’m getting the old rate because I’ve been a customer for years, and yes, ….. I’m cool. It’s all good.
I’m happy about this.
Then that’s when the annoying little voice in my head said “Dude, you’re not that cool”
So I went to Adobes page to see what the rates are for Photoshop CC today.
And my little voice was right. It’s still $9.99 a month.
All of this was for nothing!
So, what have we learned?
#1. I’m not as cool as I thought, …. but that’s not really anything new.
#2 (once again) Don’t believe everything you read online.
and
C. If you walk around outside with a round mirror next to your head, …… you look weird.
Yeah, I think we’re done here.
