Product Description
Stock cameras have a steep downward curve in the deep reds limiting most of the sensitivity to the hydrogen alpha wavelengths. Have us modify your camera to allow the reds to pass through to the sensor without any blocking of the hydrogen alpha wavelengths. Allowing for much higher sensitivity and thus shorter, less noisy exposures.
Our 1 year warranty is included on conversion services and installed H-Alpha filters.
After you place your order you will receive an email with instructions on how to send us your camera.

I recently had my LifePixel handle my D5500 H-Alpha conversion. I am very happy with the results. A suggestion to make the processing these Ha images easier – shoot Flats. Combining the Flats with the images when stacking made color balancing the final images in Photoshop much, much simpler. It also tidied up the vignetting with my Nikon 180 f2.8 and 70-200 f4 lenses.

I use my Nikon D5300 for astrophotography. I had LifePixel perform an Ha modification to my camera recently.
I really thought that the camera performed very well before the modification. After the modification, the results are stunning! The camera is much more sensitive to the reds to deep-reds.
I pondered this modification for quite some time and regret waiting so long!
Excellent turnover time and excellent customer Support.

Sent my Nikon D5600 in for conversion and I love the night time photos it takes. LifePixel was even nice enough to repair my broken SDcard holder which wouldn’t hold the card in for some reason. Great service.

Nikon D5300 H-Alpha conversion here. Definitely worth every penny as described for improved image quality especially of nebula. Easy and smooth transaction with Lifepixel. They had the camera back to me sooner than I expected. Thanks again!

I have a Nikon D800E that I use exclusively for astrophotography that I sent it in for H-alpha conversion. The camera has always taken very good images but I have to say the images after conversion are amazing. I haven’t put numbers to the exposures but the camera seems to be much more sensitive in capturing stars and H-alpha emission which allows a better signal to noise separation from light pollution. The images so far have been stunning compared to the images from the unmodified camera. I’m very glad I had the camera converted.

I recently sent my Nikon D750 in for the H-Alpha Camera Conversion and so far, I must say, I absolutely love it. I wish I could post images to display the difference between the stock and modified D750 images, but I am rather impressed at how much more the h-alpha regions “pop” now. While I am struggling getting correct white balance for non-night shots, the modded camera still does a fine job with daylight photos, especially if you are willing to carry a gray card around or do some finagling in post processing to correct the white balance. I am not sure what filter they use to replace the stock filter (other than I was told it was a custom filter for LifePixel), but it does seem to do a slightly better job than a BAADER filter mod – and seems quite a bit better than “a” versions of cameras (60Da, 20Da, D810a) you can purchase from manufacturers, although I only have experience with a 60Da to compare it with. The price, including shipping is a bit steep, but if you want to get the most out of your night shots (and gather that h-alpha light!), I highly recommend this mod via LifePixel.
