Product Description
With this conversion service we will replace the internal hot mirror filter with a high quality custom made infrared glass filter. This will allow your camera to capture infrared light instead of visible light. After IR conversion you won’t need any filters in front of the lens and the camera will be just as sensitive to infrared as it was to visible light. This means you can hand hold and compose normally.
We also calibrate the camera to accurately focus infrared light, according to your ordered calibration choice.
Our most popular infrared filter is the Super Color IR due to its versatility in allowing stunning color and monochrome infrared images but it does require some Photoshop post production.
Our most popular focus calibration choices are Universal and Custom, depending on user preference and camera Live View AF capability.
If you are unsure of the choices for IR filter or IR focus calibration please be sure to go through the Start Here section. It should give you everything you need but if you find you still have questions please feel free to contact us by phone or email, we are always happy to help.
Our 1 year warranty is included on conversion services and installed IR filters.
After you place your order you will receive an email with instructions on how to send us your camera.

I had a Nikon D7000 converted to IR for B&W photography. I simply cannot say enough good things about LifePixel from their customer service, price, to quality of conversion and calibrating the focus with my enclosed lens. I would highly recommend LifePixel to anyone who is interested in converted to IR.

great points altogether, you just gained a new reader. What would you recommend about your post that you made a few days ago? Any positive?

My second conversion and I’m really happy with the way it works.. Never go anywhere else for these or related services or products…

An easy process. After the conversion got help from Dan in a 30 minute tutorial on how best to get a proper WB with my Nikon d300 – Enhanced IR. Much more to learn but a great “new” camera to explore with.

Love the Super Color conversion, which permits both processing as “traditional” infrared and a more dynamic form of color image! In addition, the included 30 minute on-line training was simply invaluable and terrifically well done.

I’m a landscape guy shooting with a Nikon D800E. Strictly color. My typical practice is to shoot at sunrise and sunset and do reconnaissance during the day. Before the 800E I had a D80 which has been unused for the last several years. I thought “Why not shoot some IR while I’m scouting around?” I chose the 720nm filter, thinking there’s no reason for a beginner to get fancy. The conversion went as advertised. In fact, I think my lens was cleaned up beyond what it was when I sent it. That suggests that more pains were taken than I suspect.

Recently I had my D600 converted to the Deep IR filter, had my Nik 24-120 calibrated as well. I am very pleased with the results. The Deep IR filter gives me more of what I want and less of what I don’t than the standard IR filter I had put into a Canon Rebel XSi some years back. Don’t get me wrong, the standard conversion can deliver very nice results, but the Deep IR takes one deeper into the IR world (hence the name). Woking with Deep IR images reminds me of images made from 4X5 IR film back in the old days. Smooth and deep, giving one the feeling of looking through a window rather than viewing a manufactured image.

I had my Nikon D800 converted to 830nm and am very happy with the results. You lose a couple stops from the conversion but nothing approaching the point where a tripod will be required in most conditions. At 830nm my photos come out extremely crisp and dramatic.

I had an old Nikon D80 converted to the 590 IR conversion and am very happy I finally took the plunge and did it! I put in my order in the post Thanksgiving – Pre Christmas time and the process took a bit longer as shipping from the east to west coast and back again was not fast. As a result, the cold weather and holiday delayed my getting out with the camera right away. I am loving the images I am getting just by reading the tutorials and watching the videos on the LifePixel site. As a self-taught photographer and post-processor, I appreciate the basic approach offered. My initial photos look awesome and I cannot wait to see what I produce as I gain more skill in the post processing. The included 30 minute session with Dan took place this week and has raised my excitement higher. He helped me to see a basic workflow that will work for me and was very personable to speak with. I still have a free print to take advantage of as well. What a very positive experience and great introduction into this very surreal and wonderful aspect of photography. Highly recommended as I am highly satisfied. Thank you LifePixel!

I had my Nikon d7100 converted with the standard 720 IR. Very pleased with the results. I have my free tutorial next week and look forward to what I will learn. I’ve had some previous experience with IR so it is not totally new to me but I’m sure there is always more to learn. Daniel was a great help in making my decisions. The process took a little longer than I had hoped but all things worked out. I love the pure black and white so very happy with my choice. Someday I might have another camera converted to one of the other options. For now though this is enough to keep me busy along with my other cameras in color.

I have had 3 Nikon bodies converted by LIfe Pixel since 2008. The company is excellent to work with on all facets of the process. And they stand behind their work when it is completed. They are very cooperative and responsive!

My experience with Life Pixel and especially their customer service is one of the most remarkable experiences I have ever had with a company. Beforehand, Daniel was willing to answer all my technical questions over a few months period of time as I zeroed in on what I needed to accomplish. Days before the photo excursion (out-of-country) that I had been planning, my newly converted camera had a malfunction (a Nikon problem, not a conversion issue). Nikon repair would not look at it for weeks and I didn’t have the time to spare. Although not a Life Pixel issue they had me ship the camera back to them (from East coast) just to check on everything and make sure. They did everything in their power to have it back to me within 72 hours. It arrived at noon before I left for the airport at 2pm. (I had my older converted camera as my backup just in case.) They did everything over and above the call of duty to help me out. It is an extraordinary company with extraordinary service and business philosophy. I will extoll the virtues of this company to my students and use them as an example of how to run a business. They were exceptional. Of course the age-old conundrum, by the time they received the camera and tested it, it was working perfectly, and therefore could not find the cause of the problem. They called me and we agreed to have it immediately shipped back, and with only two hours to test the camera, I confirmed that it seemed to be working perfectly. I gambled and took it on the trip (with the backup just in case) and it has worked perfectly ever since! Life Pixel went over and above the call of duty and customer expectation. They are great!
PS. I chose the AR filter coating. Great decision

I had my D200 converted to the Enhanced Color mode. I just got it back yesterday and did a few test shots even though we’ve been under a cloud bank for days. Even with the bad weather I was able to pull out some interesting images. I’m looking forward to a sunny day!
The educational materials on the Life Pixel web site are excellent and the person that I spoke with was extremely helpful and friendly.

I recently received my converted Nikon D80 (Super Color filter with AR coating) and am thrilled with the results! A bit of a learning curve for me working with the white balance and post processing technique, but it has been a lot of fun so far and the tutorials on the LifePixel website have been very helpful. This adventure into IR has given me a new burst of inspiration for my landscape photography, and I already have a few “keepers” in both black & white and color.

Did a 7100 to 590nm. Was a fast turnaround and everything is in perfect working order. Could not be happier. Thank you, LifePixel!

I’ll admit that I was skeptical at first but after reading almost everything on the LifePixel site and viewing all the videos I decided to send in my treasured D7000 for a Enhanced IR conversion. I really liked How LifePixel even listed their competitors. That says alot for me. The entire process took about 3 weeks during their busy season. I received new newly IR converted camera and tested it extensively the first day. It was perfect and the sensor was clean. Follow up from LifePixel was a nice touch. Fantastic Job!

This was my 2nd IR conversion by LifePixel. I was highly satisfied with the first one; I’m thrilled beyond words with this latest one. This is my first full frame sensor conversion in a DSLR. Definitely NOT disappointed. The focusing is much sharper than on the previous Canon conversion. The images are beyond my expectation. I just returned from a landscape photography adventure in UT and got to give it a good test. Thanks, LifePixel and Daniel for the great job and rapid turn around.

Super-impressed with the IR images I’ve seen, I wanted to give it a try. LifePixel provides plenty of info on their website to help determine which filter is right for you (I chose the Super Color 590nm) and sent my camera in. The order / shipping process was easy and my camera was converted and returned to me in very short order.
LifePixel has a number of extremely helpful videos that I’ve gone back to reference several times after I’ve gained more experience shooting in IR. I’ve been using the converted camera for about a year now (though not much during our cloudy & wet winter) and I’m finally beginning to tease out all of the color that is possible with this filter.
My camera does appear to be among those that have some issues with setting white balance; however, Nikon’s Capture NX-D is fully able to overcome that when shooting in RAW. Subsequent processing in Photoshop is easy.
Bottom line: I’m very satisfied. Skilled professional conversion; unique and different images; terrific new creative outlet… all good.

An extra bonus I discovered by having my old Nikon D90 plus cheap 55mm lens conversion, is my Tamron 18 to 270mm lens and Tamron 10 to 24mm lens both work well with the converted D90, producing nice, reasonably sharp images.

I decided to try infrared photography with my old Canon G10. I had it converted by LifePixel. When I realized the opportunities and that I’m going to do much more infrared photography, I sent my Nikon D300 to LifePixel to get it converted too. With both cameras, I was pleased with the way LifePixel handled the process. I really liked the new opportunities with the converted camera. In the summers, I’ve done more infrared photography than working with my conventional gear. I loved the fact that Infrared photography works well in mid-day light, when the light is not great for regular pictures.

I had LifePixel convert my Nikon D800 using the 590nm. I shoot BW and can process the 590nm with great contrast. I also love the faux color I can pull out of that same 590nm filter…best of both worlds for me. The service was excellent and my questions answered completely. Rey happy with LP!!!!!

Nikon D40 converted to 720nm, excellent performance, modified years ago and I still enjoy this camera.

I recently had a Nikon D5300 converted. Since B&W is my preferred medium I chose the 830nm conversion with universal focus calibration. I use live view with a 18-55mm lens. The 830nm conversion enables a simple post process in LR, creating stunning results. Take it a step further in PS and WOW. IR has opened a new level of creativity. I’m very happy with the conversion.

I had an older Nikon D100 converted to “Enhanced IR” and am having a total blast with this camera. I had played with B/W IR film long ago and it was exciting then…this, however, is something else again. I have recently bought a good quality photo printer and am making stunning prints to hang of the walls of my home. Some I have posted on Facebook with rave reviews by friends. My life with this new type photography has dramatically changed…so happy 😉
